Thanks for visiting my trading corner.  Here are the patches of the Bellaire Police Department.  Prior to 1960, Officers of the Department did not wear any patches.   If you are interested in trading for a Bellaire PD patch or challenge coin, send me an e-mail.  I generally do not trade badges because of the cost.  I have however, managed to collect several nice badges.

1960-1968

1968-1972

This is the first patch worn by the Bellaire Police Department.  It was first introduced by Chief J.P. Court in 1960  It was worn on the right shoulder of a white shirt.  The badge was a stock eagle style badge.  It appears from historical photos this was also the badge worn before patches in the 1950's.  There has been no record found indicating any previous style badges or patches.

.

This is the second patch of the Department.  It was worn from 1968 to 1972  The patch resembles a badge patch but was worn on the left shoulder of a light blue shirt with navy blue eplets and pocket flaps.  The badge was the same style badge worn with the previous patch.

1972-1980

1980-2021

This third patch was worn from 1972 till 1980.  It was worn on both shoulders of a light blue shirt with navy blue eplets and pocket flaps.  The badge was the same style as the Houston PD badges.  These badges were made locally with the lettering indented and the numbers raised.  Many agencies in the Houston area used this style badge, converting a Houston PD badge to their badge by adding the banners with the city name and the word police.

2021 - Current

This is the current style of patch for the Bellaire Police Department.  The uniform did not change but both the badge and patch did.  The new badge was issued effective 8/1/2021 and the new patch was issued 9/1/2021.  This patch was also designed by members of the department.

This forth patch was worn from 1980 until 2021.  It was designed by one of it's officers.  It was worn on both shoulders of a navy blue shirt with french blue eplets and pocket flaps.  In 1985, the eplets and pockets flaps were changed to gray.  In 2009 the eplets and pocket flaps were changed to navy blue.  The gold badge is worn by all members of the department regardless of rank.

1998

2015

The "SWET" or Search Warrant Entry Team patch was first introduced in 1998.  It was not an official uniform patch but it was used by several officers on the team for their drill uniforms and response uniforms.  The badge was a prototype and never worn.  In 2000 the team was renamed to "SRT" or Special Response Team and no patch was designed for it at that time.

In 2000 the Search Warrant Entry Team was renamed to the Special Response Team.  No patch was designed for the team at that time.  In 2015 a new patch was designed and issued to the team members.  It is currently used on the SRT uniforms.  There is no metal badge issued for the SRT uniform

The Bellaire Police Department has issued three "Special Edition" badges to celebrate milestones in the history of the department.

The Bellaire Police Department celebrated the turn of the century by issuing a new badge for that year.  the center of the badge is a small replica of the officer's currently issued badge.  The center seal was changed from the blue state seal to a white background with an eagle overlaying the state flag in the shape of Texas.  The badge contains the officer's name, rank, and year of employment.  It was issued and worn for the year 2000.

The City of Bellaire was established in 1908.  In celebration of the Centennial of Bellaire, a special badge was designed.  This badge was worn by officers from March 2008 until January 1st, 2009.  In the center of the badge is a reproduction of a picture of the first Town Marshal of Bellaire.  The badge lists the Officer's rank, name, and year of employment.  It was issued and worn for the year 2008.

The Bellaire Police Department celebrated it's 100th anniversary.  The Bellaire Police Department was established in July 1918 with the appointment of the first Town Marshal.  The badge is similar in style to the Centennial Badge issued for the 100 year anniversary of the City.  The star in the top part of the badge, represents the current issue Bellaire Police Badge.  The badge was issued in October 2018 and worn thru July 2019.
